Vases in Boston MFA[edit]

Hi Ficaia. As I promised here, when I visited the Boston Museum of Fine Arts last month I tried to get some photos to replace two of your images of Greek vases that were deleted for copyvio back in September. I was partially successful. Here is a new photo of the red-figure cup by Onesimos with the discus thrower in the tondo (File:Red-figure kylix palestra scene diskobolos (Boston MFA 01.8020).jpg) and here's a detail (File:Red-figure kylix palestra scene diskobolos (Boston MFA 01.8020) detail.jpg). I couldn't find the pelike with the jumping dancers (this one), but I see from the museum web site that it is in fact on display, so I'll look again when I go back later this month. Thanks for doing that. The jumping dancers is the one I really want, to illustrate w:Bibasis (dance), but it's good to have a photo of the discus thrower regardless. 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 14:01, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi again. I was back at the MFA yesterday and was able to photograph the pelike with the jumping dancers. The lighting wasn't ideal: the lights on the ceiling and the windows created reflections on both the glass case and the surface of the vase itself, so I couldn't get a shot of the whole vessel at eye level without the glare washing out one of the figures. But by moving the camera up and shooting downward, I did manage to get some decent images, not great but acceptable, and I've uploaded several of them, three of the entire vase and two others of the main panel:
Some of them still have some glare, while others have the shadow of my arm blocking the light; it's not clear to me which defect is more annoying, so you'll have to decide for yourself which you prefer. But they're better than nothing, and I think you can probably find one good enough to serve as an illustration for the bibasis article.
(I also took one oblique photo of the other side of the vase, which is unfortunately partly blocked by the back of the display case, but which is worth noting because on that side the jumping boys are shown from the back rather than the front, with buttocks front and center: see File:Red-figure pelike jumping dancers (Boston MFA 1973.88) 06.jpg.)

Do explain 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 08:50, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Ficaia Please, you can check why I am not able to create a new page or new gallery using the (Gallery:any title |according to my wish). I mean, even when I switch to desktop mode on my mobile, I am still unable to create any specific page or gallery. I dont know why, but yes, I am so far able to create only category pages using the trick of (first put a red category on a page, then click on the category page, then click publish new, etc.). TBH, I use the same trick you do 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 19:32, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
