Adding our own description[edit]

Could we add a parameter (maybe even "Description") to add our own text to the "Description" field? Currently it seems restricted to only the text the NYPL provides, which is often not terribly detailed, or sometimes flatly incorrect (e.g. File:Treasury Building stereo card 2, from Robert N. Dennis collection of stereoscopic views.jpg). I think it would be highly preferable if editors could add their own text to show up inside the Information box... possibly even the entire Description field, and putting the current information in the Source field under the NYPL-image template, and possibly making use of {{Original caption}} for the NYPL captions. Or, perhaps just do that if a "Description" parameter is supplied, and defaulting to the current arrangement if not. Carl Lindberg (talk) 18:06, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
