Recategorisation
As an experiment, could you run the recategorisation bot on the files in Category:Streets? Could you give a kick to {{Intersect categories}}. Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 06:39, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's running. Multichill (talk) 16:45, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Done. Multichill (talk) 17:40, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Great: Intersect execution removed around 600 overcats. The 360 + images in Category:Streets are probably unchanged. Thanks anyway. --Foroa (talk) 18:11, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Now running the bigcat intersection bot on Category:Streets. Getting quite some hits. Multichill (talk) 18:14, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Looks great, wondering how it would manage on other unmaintainable but more abstract categories: Category:Art, Category:Paintings, Category:Photographs, Category:Music and Category:Sculptures. Can those category reductions be activated by a template ? --Foroa (talk) 18:27, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Great, 200 "street" images found their right country. --Foroa (talk) 05:37, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- I wrote this bot for the Geograph project. It works best on intersecting things my location. It might be able to kick down some images in these categories. I'll give it a shot. Multichill (talk) 23:13, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Multichill. You have cancelled my request to Delinker to change the names of the regional categories of architecture in Italy by century because it is controversial. I want you explain what is in the background of my request. For Italy we need a harmonisation and consistency of all categories. This is the work I am doing at the time. For art and archaeological categories we had a problem in Italy, that in categories of whatever artworks in Italy there was objects they are located in Italy together with other made or found in Italy, but now abroad (e.g. in the Louvre or in the Metropolitan Museum of Art). Giovanni Dall'Orto solved the problem to use in the category names IN if the object is still located in Italy, and FROM for objects made or found in Italy but now in foreign countries. The generally category is OF. You can see here an exemple. Now, for the architecture, for all countries we speak of "Architecture of NameCountry". Ok. Really architecture is IN a country. So for our problem in Italy, we decided that for the generally category we let it so ("Architecture OF Italy"), and the same for all its subcategories by century, by city, by period, by province, by region, by type. But to keep the OF for architecture that are IN a city, IN a province, IN a region this is not possible. There is no coherence and has no sense. All categories of Italy that are locate in a city, or in a province or in a region are all IN. In the case of "Architecture" there are all buildings, or architectural elements, or other structures, and they can only be IN. So I hope that we can solve this controversial situation; different way we will have a messy situation in our categories of Italy. Best regards, --DenghiùComm (talk) 11:16, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Multichill,

Upload of images from fotothek
I've expanded the article 'Heinrich Rau' on the English Wikipedia and would like to add the images [1] and [2] from Deutsche Fotothek to Category:Heinrich Rau for use in the article. I'm not familiar with uploads, but have seen, that picture from Deutsche Fotothek are usually uploaded by a bot. What can I do? Henrig (talk) 12:33, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Henrig, we only got a subset of their collection under a free license. We can't use other pictures from their site. You could have a look at these images and maybe crop one? Multichill (talk) 12:47, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Multichill, thank you. But what a bummer! The available pictures, as far as not already used in the article unfortunately seem to be not so good or not so convenient. Henrig (talk) 13:01, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Could you possible take a look in at Commons:Village pump#U.S. Navy geographic photo categories? Thanks. - Jmabel ! talk 05:30, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Nordiska museet
Hello,
Thanks for helping out with the batch upload from Nordiska museet. We really appreciate it. We seem to have some media interest in this partnership and would like to strike while the iron is hot. Do you have an estimate when the images will be uploaded? Best wishes// Hannibal (talk) 09:19, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Can you by bot change all licensing of files uploaded by me under |Source=Own work |Author=Havang(nl) into Self|Cc-zero. I ask this both for the files tagged PD-self as for all the files tagged self|cc-by-sa, for all of which I enlarge the licencing to Self|cc-zero. --Havang(nl) (talk) 10:19, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
