bonjour,
pouvez-vous me dire précisément ce qui a été modifié ?
dois-je faire quelque chose derrière ça? --Fred LEPOINT (talk) 11:22, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

GeographBot occasionally omitting structured data
I've noticed a few cases where GeographBot has uploaded a file but not added the structured data statements to populate {{Geograph from structured data}}. Here are some recent examples:
- File:View over Park Wood - geograph.org.uk - 1861421.jpg
- File:Springtime in the Forest of Dean - geograph.org.uk - 1864208.jpg
- File:Mound in the churchyard at Llanarmon DC - geograph.org.uk - 1864249.jpg
- File:Mind your head - geograph.org.uk - 1864473.jpg
- File:Footbridge beside Little Chittenden Wood - geograph.org.uk - 1870133.jpg
- File:Bridleway on the bank - geograph.org.uk - 1874566.jpg
- File:Ragley Hall - geograph.org.uk - 1877214.jpg
- File:River Enrick near Shenval - geograph.org.uk - 1877490.jpg
- File:Rough ground beside the Allt Tarsuinn - geograph.org.uk - 1879955.jpg
They end up in Category:Images from Geograph Britain and Ireland with broken templates so they're easy enough to correct by hand, but if the bot could avoid creating them that would be good. --bjh21 (talk) 12:36, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Bjh21: thanks for pointing that out. I keep logs and looked into File:Rough ground beside the Allt Tarsuinn - geograph.org.uk - 1879955.jpg:
Ready to upload Rough_ground_beside_the_Allt_Tarsuinn_-_geograph.org.uk_-_1879955.jpg Uploading geograph.org.uk image from https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1879955 Sleeping for 5.0 seconds, 2021-04-15 08:06:37 ERROR: An error occurred for uri https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php ERROR: Traceback (most recent call last): .....<stacktrace> requests.exceptions.ReadTimeout: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='commons.wikimedia.org', port=443): Read timed out. - So the bot tries to upload the file. It times out and the bot thinks it failed, but the file was actually uploaded. The bot retries to upload the file, but this fails because the file already exists. Because this reports back the upload as failed, the step of adding the structured data is never reached. I patched it up and restarted the bot so should be fixed for files uploaded after File:The Pier, Trefor - geograph.org.uk - 1887263.jpg. Can you let me know if this fixed it or not? Multichill (talk) 13:30, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll continue to monitor Category:Images from Geograph Britain and Ireland with broken templates and I'll let you know if it happens again. --bjh21 (talk) 14:30, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- This has happened again: GeographBot uploaded File:Hilton Bay - geograph.org.uk - 1935352.jpg on 28 April but didn't give it any structured data. --bjh21 (talk) 10:18, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Bjh21: did you run into more cases or was it just this glitch? Multichill (talk) 16:05, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- I just checked and found that File:Striding Edge - geograph.org.uk - 1992248.jpg was uploaded yesterday and didn't get any structured data. Those two are the only problems I've noticed since 17 April. --bjh21 (talk) 16:13, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Bjh21: that one crashed on a funky date: "1993-00-02". Multichill (talk) 16:25, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
- That's rather entertaining. I've had a look through the Geograph database for obviously invalid dates and I've only found about 150 of them, so this problem shouldn't come up very much. I'll see if I can sort out fixing at least some of them on the Geograph side. --bjh21 (talk) 22:50, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

mateus2019 (talk · contribs) Referring to Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems (”Before reporting one or more users here, try to resolve the dispute by discussing with them first. (Exception: obvious vandal accounts, spambots, etc.)”) I am asking you to revert your decision revokinng my file mover rights as it is based on false grounds. There is no „Doing renames not in line with Commons:File renaming. Personal attacks.“ You are a bit overreacting and not respecting 10,000 hours of unpaid work for WM Commons. The attack (sounds dramatic, but these are your words) resulted after not answering my issue (FNC rationale #2 reads: "To change from a meaningless or ambiguous name to a name that describes what the image particularly displays" regarding File:Canaletto (II) 026.jpg) which you have brought up.[1] Unfortunately, you are not performing a decent behaviour in terms of pre-warning or explaining what is wrong with my performance as a file mover. As an admin, you should perform a descent behavior which excludes vengence. You have 48 hours to answer, otherwise I will report you@Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Shame on you. I am SO impressed by your power and your intellectual/social (in)abilities. I have had written, that you shall not bother me anymore, but you are ignoring that by posting me another one @my talk page. Be a role model, not the opposite of it. Stop frustrating other highly motivated users (me). I am trying to be polite according to your intro. Greetings to the Netherlands. --Mateus2019 (talk) 13:16, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Mateus2019,
- Let's recap what happened. You renamed File:Canaletto (II) 026.jpg which is part of about 10.000 files uploaded in 2005 with a consistent naming convention so I asked you not to rename these files because it's not in line with Commons:File renaming: Basic principle is stable filenames and the file names are not meaningless (a consistent scheme is not meaningless). Your first reply isn't very meaningful. In your second reply you decide to make personal attacks and you ask me to stop bothering you. I'm clearly not getting through to you. I have several options: 1. Let it go, but than more damage can be done to Commons 2. Block you for you bad behavior, but that's a bit too much and that would just be temporary 3. Remove the file move rights so no more damage can be done for now.
- I chose the third option.
- I'm more than happy to restore the file move rights if 1. You apologize for your bad behavior (the personal attacks) and 2. Don't do more renames of these Yorck files or other files that are clearly part of a set.
- It's up to you. Multichill (talk) 14:23, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:PA 1996 pres counties.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Hello, my username is oshrad55. In the past year, I have uploaded photos through the Israeli website https://www.pikiwiki.org.il/gallery/?sort=&s=&method=exact&tags=&topic=&image-id=&from-year=&to-year=&author=%D7%90%D7%95%D7%A9%D7%A8%D7%94+%D7%93%D7%99%D7%99%D7%9F&contributor=&organization=, which is linked to Wikimedia commons. This is the first time I upload a photo independently https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coronavirus_-_the_beginning.jpg I received an email that you made a repair and I do not see what the repair is. I am interested in uploading more photos independently and want to do it correctly. Also, how do I correct my author's name? (I want to add English to the author's name) --oshrad55 (talk) 03:52, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
