Geograph authors with Wikidata items
Is there a way to tell GeographBot that a particular author on Geograph has an item on Wikidata, so that that item can be used in place of "some value" in the creator (P170) property? If not, could there be please? I ask because I've found that Ben Brooksbank is Benjamin Walter Lamplugh Brooksbank (Q76354908). There are at least 2000 of his pictures still to transfer from Geograph, so having the bot get them right first time would save 2000 edits later. --bjh21 (talk) 08:55, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Bjh21: I currently don't support this and have no plans to do so in the future. The reason is that I don't want to encourage vanity items and we also have the issue of privacy: Some people don't want to have their online identities so obviously linked to their real life identities. So I'm staying clear of this with my bots. This is something that should be done on a case by case basis. If you change it, can you please keep the qualifiers intact? incorrect categories
I don't know what process you use, but it looks like you are adding my wild animal images to zoo categories. Can you please revert them asap. Charlesjsharp (talk) 07:54, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Charlesjsharp: I have no clue what you're talking about. If you think someone did something wrong you should always provide an example instead of assuming the other user knowing what it is about. Multichill (talk) 20:20, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Olga Ernst: you change the coordinates after the bot imported these to the structured data so the two don't match. I'm lazy and removed it so one of the bots will just import the new coordinates. Multichill (talk) 20:17, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Multichill :-) --Olga Ernst (talk) 20:36, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Lowercase user namespace in creator URLs
Hi! I just noticed that BotMultichillT seems to specify the User namespace in lowercase in the URL (P2699) qualifier of creator (P170) statements – for example, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/user:Lucas_Werkmeister in Special:Diff/571624314. Is there a reason for this? I would assume the namespace should be uppercase, like all MediaWiki namespaces. (By contrast, SchlurcherBot uses uppercase User, but HTTP instead of HTTPS – see User talk:Schlurcher#HTTP vs. HTTPS in creator URLs. I’m hoping we can resolve both of these issues so that either bot uses the same URL format.) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 11:06, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Lucas no reason (or I forgot the reason), but that's an easy change. Multichill (talk) 19:17, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Great, thanks! :) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 12:55, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
