English: Libation basin. It reproduces the flooding of the Nile river on a small scale. In the center the crocodile whose female had the reputation of laying eggs where the flooding of the Nile would stop. And the frogs who are the first to announce the decline. Limestone. 2nd-3rd century AD. AD Mendes, Lower Egypt (today Tell-el Rub). Louvre museum (Paris, France).
Français : Bassin à libation. Il reproduit à petite échelle la crue du Nil. Au centre le crocodile dont la femelle avait la réputation de pondre là où s'arrêterait la crue du Nil.
