Coordinate tool and ç
Just in case you still don't know: your coordinate tool can't deal with file names containing the letter "ç" - although it is still workable by copy-pasting in the right page the template it produces. I haven't tried with other non English characters such as à, è, é, ü and so.--Pere prlpz (talk) 16:39, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Which tool are you referring to exactly? Multichill (talk) 16:56, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- I mean this one. I used it from this revision of File:Plaça Ajuntament.JPG, and the tool seems to be trying to add coordinates to File:Plaça Ajuntament.JPG. I suppose the tool has some problem with character "ç".--Pere prlpz (talk) 17:23, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Pere, I help Multichill with this tool. When I just past the filename in the 'File' box, it just works, so it seems it goes wrong in the call from the template. Not sure yet how to fix this. Akoopal (talk) 18:26, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Metropolitan Museum of Art
Hi there. I recently came across Commons:Batch uploading/Metropolitan Museum of Art and I noticed there that you said "I would rather do a partnership project with the MET instead of stripping clean their site. I met a lot of MET people (:P) in the US. I'll contact them and see what's possible." That was in 2010. Did anything come of that? I'm asking because I'm working on a list of portrait medallions by David d'Angers. Most of the images in Category:Medals by Pierre Jean David are from the upload that took place this year from the Walters Art Museum - see Commons:Walters Art Museum and Commons talk:Walters Art Museum#Example of use of images. What I was wondering is whether a similar approach would be possible so that images like this (a photograph of a 3D work) could be made available? They have a lot of nice photographs of those medallions (he did nearly 500 of them), and many are not on display. I can link to the images (as I've just done here), but it would be nicer to display the images. Carcharoth (Commons) (talk) 07:49, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

hello
Hi I am a French student in archeology. Your diagram is very interesting (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Raveliene.jpg) What software did you use? This is what city? are you still there? I have a similar place to Dachstein but it disappeared.

2012 Summer Olympics athletes by country has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

BBR&Fornminne
Some buildings can have both {{Fornminne}} and {{BBR}}, but this is not one of them, and the id-code is always different int bbr and fmis. This is a bbr-code. -- Lavallen 13:40, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- I noticed just too late, I want to get https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38315 solved this weekend. When I have that fixed it should be easy to clean this up. Multichill (talk) 13:48, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, fixed the database and now fixing the templates. Multichill (talk) 14:56, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
ErfgoedBot
ErfgoedBot adds mérimée-templates to files that are in categories with said template. Do you really think it's needed to put the templates on the single files, if they are in the categories? Example: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alizay_-_%C3%89glise01.jpg in http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:%C3%89glise_Saint-Germain_d%27Alizay Kind Regards, --Stanzilla (talk) 14:05, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I do, otherwise I wouldn't have done it in the first place. Multichill (talk) 16:35, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- @Stanzilla: Take Category:Österåsens hälsohem as an example. This is a category for a Swedish "Byggnadsminne". Österåsens hälsohem is a "byggnadsminne", but there is space for files in this category, who is not a "byggnadsminne". Such things as the area around it, a memorial stone at the nearby church are two examples. I have such files on my computer, I have not uploaded them yet, but I will. Such things are not a "byggnadsminne" and cannot have the template for a "byggnadsminne", but there is space for them in the category. -- Lavallen 19:12, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- Lavellen, I don't think it's the same reason. The whole category is about a monument historique. The reason seems to be the photo gets used on a list. And I feel like an idiot, that I have moved the templates to the category from the files, where they in many cases have been, before the category was created. Could have let them stay there. Would have been less work. Why try to sort anyways?--Stanzilla (talk) 10:56, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- Österåsens hälsohem is a "monument historique" (byggnadsminne). All files in the category today are about the "monument", but there is place for other things around the subject that is not a "monument historique". Therefor am I adding the template to the files istead of the category. -- Lavallen 11:26, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

- Chiming in @Stanzilla: yes, there used to be a convention to move the Mérimée template from the files to the category level (I have done it many times myself). This was a very bad idea. And it does not scale well anyway (we have way too many MH pictures now). It is still very useful to have the template on the category, but it should stay on files. Commons:Village_pump/Archive/2012/04#CategorizationBot Not good enough to get CategorizationBot restarted again? I am sure that I will find more supporters if needed. --Foroa (talk) 16:11, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
ErfgoedBot niet voor Beieren
Hallo Multichill. Helaas werkt de ErfgoedBot niet voor monumenten in Beieren. Zoals hier worden fotos met Template:Kulturdenkmal Bayern voorzien. Dit is fout want voor de monumenten in Beieren is
This is a picture of the Bavarian Baudenkmal (cultural heritage monument) with the ID xxx (Wikidata)
|
bedoelt. Dankje. --Janericloebe (talk) 01:46, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Hallo, you added the template Template:Kulturdenkmal Bayern which doesn't exist; the correct template is:
This is a picture of the Bavarian Baudenkmal (cultural heritage monument) with the ID xxx (Wikidata)
|
. But there is no need to add this template at each file when the file belongs to a category where the template should be--GFreihalter (talk) 07:48, 29 August 2012 (UTC).
Finally I decided to contact ForestWander and not to crawl his page because this would just add to his hosting-cost, which isn't polite, I think. He e-Mailed me his post-db (a MySQL database dump of his WordPress installation) and gave me access to an FTP-server with the files on it. It would be great if you could comment at Commons:Bots/Requests/Forestwander Nature Photography upload bot or even have some ideas how to improve the process. But I guess it's manual work required to improve the file description pages. Thank you. -- Rillke(q?) 18:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
French centralnotice update
Hi Multichill, I've seen you got the admin right on meta for WLM so could you please update the french centralnotice so that there's a space before the : and a space before the ! and put the p of photographiez in lower case : "Wiki Loves Monuments : photographiez un monument historique, aidez Wikipédia et gagnez !"
This would respect better the french typography rules. Thanks. Symac (talk) 14:48, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Odder did it, sorry for the disruption Symac (talk) 06:50, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Idea
Maybe it is possible automatically change to on and at the end of September to off with Template:WLM-is-running concerning the uploadcampaigns. A template I created after some discussion on the chat can be used, it works. It automatically changes based on the time and timezones. Romaine (talk) 00:27, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
